Social Safety Net Program

The members of the ultra and hardcore poor are being given priority for the implementation of this program. The objectives of the social safety net program are to empower the women of ultra poor and ethnic communities through raising social awareness and building their coping skills to address natural disasters and mitigate Monga for improving their livelihood.
The safety net Programs are supported by the various government ministries, agencies, and such international development partners as World Food Program (WFP), UNICEF, European Commission, Asian Development Bank and World Bank.  
The Projects are :
       
       •  Integrated Food Security (IFS)
       •  Food Security for the Vulnerable Group Development (FSVGD)
       •  Integrated Development for the Adivashi Community People
       •  Enhancement of rights of women and children in Monga Affected areas through
          Good Governance, Education, Sanitation, Hygiene and Water Supply
       •  Health and Nutrition Education, Awareness on HIV & AIDS
       •  Non-Formal Primary Education
       •  Rural Women Employment Creation
       •  Promotion of Maize Cultivation
       •  Nodi O Jibon (Island Chars Resource Mobilization-Char livelihood)
       •  Counter-trafficking Intervention in prevention, protection and prosecution for the
          victims of trafficking
       •  Rural Housing and Resettlement
       •  Disaster Preparedness, Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation
       •  Agriculture Technology Transfer

Resettlement is a process that deals with the Project Affected Persons (PAPs) who lose their land, houses and other properties, income or employment and suffer environmental degradation due to implementation of development projects by the different government agencies. To compensate the PAPs Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) are followed so that they are not worse off than before the initiation of the project. Such a policy is in consonance with human rights and the tenets of Social Welfare.

ASOD implemented a number of Resettlement Projects which are;

       i.    River Bank Protection Project of BWDB, MoWR
       ii.   Rehabilitation of Dhaka-Sylhet Road, RRMP-III,RHD, MoC
       iii.  Improvement of Feeder Road Type-A, RRMP-III, RHD, MoC
       iv.  Construction of Nalka-Hatikumrul New Road, RRMP-III,  RHD, MoC
       v.   Tongi-Bhairab Bazar Subproject, BRSIP, Bangladesh Railway, MoC

Community Based Health Services

In addition to present activities, ASOD are also providing essential health services (general treatment, reproductive health-antenatal/ postnatal and Neonatal care), Preventive measure for HIV, AIDS and STD address malnutrition, sanitation and family hygiene through providing satellite clinic and community hospital services for the ultra poor and vulnerable community in disaster poor areas of Bangladesh.
