Objectives of ASOD

•  To improve family income of the poor, especially the hardcore poor and the ethnic minorities, through creation of livelihood opportunities, provision of required leadership and skill trainings, mandatory savings, and microfinance support;

•  To improve immediate income earnings of the Monga-affected families during the Monga season in ecologically vulnerable parts of northern districts through providing them with employment opportunities and building their coping skills;

•  To build capacities of the community based organizations through providing organization development training, supporting community demand driven activities, and networking among community based organizations and local NGOs;

•  To enhance access to educational opportunities through supporting the community education programs for the children of the poor families.

•  To improve health of the members of the communities through assisting the community based organizations for implementation of community health, nutrition, and sanitation programs;

•  To sustain fundamental human rights of the communities through advocacy and legal aid programs.

Community Based Health Services

In addition to present activities, ASOD are also providing essential health services (general treatment, reproductive health-antenatal/ postnatal and Neonatal care), Preventive measure for HIV, AIDS and STD address malnutrition, sanitation and family hygiene through providing satellite clinic and community hospital services for the ultra poor and vulnerable community in disaster poor areas of Bangladesh.
